There has always a been a need for, and lack of options in terms of a ‘soft’ concert snare drum. Professionals often wait years to come across something like an original Barry Mfg. Co. Companion Drum. Our drums pay homage to the Barry Co. while providing significant modern improvements.
Specs:
-Classic Satin Black finish over a custom Aluminum shell made in the U.S.
-8 custom single point chromed mini lugs with stainless steel independent lug arms.
-5 custom U.S. manufactured CNC stainless steel air vents surround the shell for a distinctive look and controlled resonance.
-Custom snare cables manufactured in the U.S. exclusively for Decibel Percussion are designed to speak extremely quickly and provide the most delicate sound possible.
-Custom Decibel side-pull strainer with integrated fine tuner and tension indicator is as elegant as it is simple.
-4.5mm thick straight vintage style hoops are almost twice as thick as what most competitors use. These hoops allow the drum to resonate freely, but are strong enough to take rim shots all day and not warp over time.
-Heavy duty machined hoop clips which are much stronger than cast clips and therefore not prone to cracking.
-Equipped with ultra-thin no-collar Decibel heads produced for Decibel Percussion by Remo. Diplomat M5 weight batter heads and Diplomat hazy snare side heads are used on 2.5"x13" snare drums.
Replacement heads are available for purchase upon request.

I recently purchased a Resin Orchestral Snare Drum, and it is simply stunning. In both rehearsals and performances, it feels like a cheat code for achieving the best possible sound. Being a big fan of the Hinger cast iron drums, I didn’t think anyone could build something as good as those old Hinger drums. My Decibel Cast Iron drum sounds as good if not better than the Hinger. The advances with hardware technology makes the Decibel a more durable drum, which will last me for years to come.

These heads remove SO much guesswork from tensioning. You can tell that they’re going to be of high quality right out of the box.
This drum is a true game-changer. My drum is several years old, but it remains my go-to instrument for whisper soft playing. It has a lot of clarity and sensitivity soft, yet can also push a louder dynamic ceiling for some repertoire with a lot of body that the old Barry drums don’t have. I highly recommend this drum for anyone’s collection!
