No-Collar Replacement Drumheads

I commissioned David @ Decibel Percussion to build me a snare drum with his resin shell.
As I already own an original Hinger drum I wanted something different but with the resin shell properties.

The drum David made is a 14x 5.5’ black resin with wire coil snares and die cast hoops.
It is incredibly sensitive and yet speaks without choking at higher dymanic levels.
The drum exceeded my expectations and is a joy to play.

Throughout our discussions David listened and interpreted exactly my requests.
His workmanship is superb.

Based on David's recommendation, my British Brass Band purchased both the 5.5"x14" Resin Orchestral and 6.5"x14"Cast Iron. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. The resin drum is our go-to for most of the band's rep. The cast iron drum is a more versatile instrument than we ever expected, and has also been used extensively.

This is an outstanding instrument. Excellent snare response throughout its wide dynamic range. It’s warm and full, but has some real bite to it! I can’t say enough good things about this drum. I feel confident using it for almost any snare drum part that comes my way.

The Decibel resin drums are fantastic orchestral drums! They are based upon the Hinger drum designs and provide a wonderful addition to my sound palate. The drums and big and throaty, versatile enough for pops repertoire from Superman and Star Wars to Nutcracker and the "Battle Scene." It's the classic Hinger sound with the benefits and ease of a modern drum, including the price point!

The Decibel Resin Orchestral Snare Drum sounds as beautiful as it looks! Decibel has created a wonderful instrument that is articulate at all dynamic levels. I can't say enough about the snare response! I've used this drum as a soloist with percussion ensemble and in a large ensemble setting. No matter the performance medium, this snare drum fits right into the fabric of the ensemble. Bravo!

This drum has been a consistent favourite among myself and my colleagues in the orchestra. It is a fantastic drum that has a wide dynamic range and a somewhat bright, yet full sound with a lot of character. Davids craftsmanship is stellar and he makes a point to form a relationship between him and his products and the artists that use them. I would recommend this line of drums over and over again!

The Aluminum Orchestral Drum is a work on art. Fantastic quality and craftsmanship. This drum fills a long needed gap in the demands of contemporary orchestral snare drumming. Bravo Decibel!

Incredible drums, one of a kind and sounds amazing!

I recently purchased a Resin Orchestral Snare Drum, and it is simply stunning. In both rehearsals and performances, it feels like a cheat code for achieving the best possible sound. Five different percussionists of varying skill levels had the opportunity to play it, and the result was remarkable—it sounded like the ultimate equalizer. There were no bad spots or dead zones, just a consistently beautiful and resonant tone.

Visually, it’s just as impressive. The craftsmanship and design are outstanding, and even among our group’s construction connoisseurs—who take pride in building their own instruments—it received high praise. They were thoroughly impressed with the quality of materials and precision of the build.

The symphonic directors were also highly impressed with its addition to our ensemble, noting the depth and clarity it brought to our performances. This drum is truly a game-changer for any orchestral setting!

Being a big fan of the Hinger cast iron drums, I didn’t think anyone could build something as good as those old Hinger drums. My Decibel Cast Iron drum sounds as good if not better than the Hinger. The advances with hardware technology makes the Decibel a more durable drum, which will last me for years to come.

These heads remove SO much guesswork from tensioning. You can tell that they’re going to be of high quality right out of the box.

This drum is a true game-changer. My drum is several years old, but it remains my go-to instrument for whisper soft playing. It has a lot of clarity and sensitivity soft, yet can also push a louder dynamic ceiling for some repertoire with a lot of body that the old Barry drums don’t have. I highly recommend this drum for anyone’s collection!
